Excel VBA Programming for School Staff


Do you have some Excel ‘whizzes’ in school who really know the program well? Excel can do SO MUCH when you know what it is capable of, and with VBA you can do even more to automate common or repetitive tasks tasks, create ‘front-end’ screens for less knowledgeable users, and develop complete applications.


The aim of the course is to introduce the user to Excel VBA so they develop programs that control Excel spreadsheets making safe, easy, timesaving applications for school use,


This course is designed for school staff with good Excel knowledge – ideally having completed our Excel Masterclass or having equivalent skills.

The sessions are delivered live over the internet –2 x 1 hour sessions over successive weeks. Each session has accompanying notes and an assignment to complete.  Attendees can ask questions and interact with the trainer.   We also offer the course as a pre-recorded online training option, where users can login at ANY TIME to follow the course. Notes, assignments and videos are provided on the online platform.  A printed certificate will be issued on successful completion of all assignments.



Session 1

  • Macros as a starting point – recording and editing

  • VBA overview – window, code, programming, objects, property values, procedures

  • Debugging & common errors


Session 2

  • Variables – creating and using, Data types

  • Functions and programming techniques

    • User defined functions, MsgBox, Input Box, IF

  • Loops

  • Objects

  • Forms



The 2-session course costs £99 per school and multiple staff can attend from each school for this price.
