How do I install Fit File on my computer?

To install Fit File, insert CD into the drive and an automatic procedure should start that installs the program. It will asks questions about where you want to install it - follow the wizard through to completion. To add a Shortcut to your desktop, go to Desktop and right click on any free area - choose New - Shortcut. Click on the Browse button and select the folder C:\Program Files\Fit File (or alternative folder if you chose a different one during installation) and find the file called Fit File. Select this and click on OK. Click on NEXT and then on FINISH.

What happens if the autorun doesn't work on my computer?

Go to START - RUN - Browse to the CD drive and select the file called SETUP.EXE and click on OK. This should launch the autorun program. If it does not, please contact support directly.

How do I install the upgrade

If you are upgrading from the web, go to www.istekuk.com/FFUp2012.htm and follow instructions. If upgrading from CD, insert and click on Upgrade. Select which folder to upgrade (usually C:\Program Files\Blue  and click the large computer button to start.

How do I add multiple clients (Personal Trainer version only) ?

Once you have registered Fit File (or by clicking I'll Do it later button) you will see a screen which is the User Name screen. To add new clients, click on the NEW USER button. Enter a password if required and then click on OK.

How do I enter my starting information?

To enter your starting information, go to the module named CLIENT SETUP. Accept today's date as te setup date. Press the TAB key (above the Caps Lock on your keyboard) to jump to the next box Height and type in your height in feet/inches . If you prefer to work or metres or inches change the option at the top right of the screen. Press TAB to next box - sex- and enter M(ale) or F(emale). Continue TABBING from box to box completing the information. If you are not sure what something means, click on the ? button for further help. When all required boxes are filled in, click on the SAVE button.

How do I print a Fitness Assessment report?

To print a summary of your starting position together with recommendations for improving your health and fitness, fill in all the relevant boxes then click on the button Summary Report (topleft.)  For an amendable / emailable or user definable version of this report use REPORTS button and choose the wp option next to the Fitness Report.

How do I set up my personal targets?

Go to the module button  marked TARGETS. Top left of the screen choose the button marked PERSONAL TARGETS.  Click in the top box and an arrow appears. Click on the arrow and select any targets that are appropriate. Then click on the date box and click on a ate to achieve this goal by. If none of these targets are what you want, click in the box at the bottom and enter your own special target. Click on Add Personally if the target only applies to this particular person, or Add Globally if other users of the system would like the same target.

How do I set up my weight targets?

Go to the module button  marked TARGETS. Top left of the screen choose the button marked WEIGHT TARGETS.  It should know your current and target weights, from the information added in the SETUP area.  Select your activity level from the third box, indicating if you are daily very active, moderately active etc.  Now select the type of weight management program you wish to follow - if you are unsure or do not care stick with Counting Calories. Clicking on the ? button by each Weight Management Option gives further information about what that program entails. Whichever program you select, your suggested daily intake level will show in the box bottom left - if you do not agree with this figure simply type you own figure in the CHOSEN TARGET box. If you are not sure which program would be best for you, use the questionnaire on the right for suggestions.

How do I set up my exercise targets?

Go to the module button marked EXERCISE. One by one pick an exercise the click at the bottom left to indicate the days to do this on. Once all are selected, enter the time allocated to each (and if appropriate reps/sets)  Change the order of exercises using the up and down arrows top right.  To view a summary of all exercise targets selected each day, go to the button marked TARGETS - EXERCISE TARGETS down the left of the screen. A summary for each day of the week will appear. To print a report of targets click on REPORTS and then click on PERSONAL TARGETS REPORT. Use the wp button for amendable/emailable and user defined reports.

How do I record what food I've eaten?

Go to the button  marked DIARY. Top left choose the button marked FOOD DIARY. Make sure the correct day is selected on the calendar across the top of the screen. Add food items by first selecting meal type from the first box - Breakfast/Dinner/Lunch etc and then selecting the food itself by typing in the first few letters of the food. A list of similar foods appears - select the one required. Now enter how much of the food you have eaten by looking at the portion and entering how many portions you have had. Sometimes you may have to enter a decimal proportion, for example if you have 25g of chocolate and the portion shows as 100g, then enter that you have eaten 0.25 of a portion of chocolate. Add all additional items consumed. Nutritional information appears to the right of the screen, and if you scroll across you will see your  intake of the various nutrients compared to recommended levels.

How do I record what exercise I've taken?

Go to the button  marked DIARY. Top left of the screen choose the button marked EXERCISE DIARY. Make sure that the correct day is showing on the calendar across the top. Any exercises and targets set for the day will appear. Enter your actual information eg the duration you spent, heart rate (if this is one of your targets) etc. You can also add any notes about the exercise session and if required record your enjoyment etc of the session. If you performed an exercise or activity not previously set up in targets, simply click on Unplanned Exercise and add your own details.

How can I look up the nutritional information about food?

Go to the button marked NUTRITION. Top left of the screen choose the button marked FOOD DATABASE. If you are looking up a new item, make sure the 'Personal Items' box at the top right is not ticked. Now go to the 'Find a food item' box and type in the first few letters of the food name - all similar items will appear on the list below - scroll through until you find the item you are looking for. Click on the item to see a full nutritional analysis if it. If you are looking up one of your previous marked 'Personal Items', make sure the box is ticked and then enter the first few letters of the food.

What are Personal Items in the food database?

Personal items are those foods that you regularly eat. Making them a Personal Item in the NUTRITION - FOOD DATABASE area makes it quicker and easier to search for them.

How do I add my own foods to the food list?

Go to the button marked NUTRITION. Top left of the screen choose the button marked FOOD DATABASE. Click on the ADD button at the bottom of the screen. Enter the name of the food and the nutritional information you have available. Save the details.

How can I get a nutritional analysis of my diet?

Go to the button  marked DIARY. Top left of the screen choose the button marked FOOD DIARY. Pick a day that already has food intake filled in, or if there is not one go to a day of your choice and enter a today's or a typical day's food. Click on the button at the bottom left of  screen marked NUTRITIONAL ANALYSIS, or go to REPORTS and click on wp next to Nutrition Report for an amendable/emailable version

How do I look up recipes?

Go to the button marked NUTRITION. Top left of the screen choose the button marked RECIPES. Choose your Weight Management strategy from the top right pull down list if required, and any Preferences or Meal Type choices you have. A selection of recipes that meet your criteria will appear  - use the scroll bar across the bottom to move to the next/previous recipe.  Alternatively, use the pull-down arrow to the right of the recipe name at the top left of the screen and select your recipe from this list.

How do I add my own recipes?

Go to the button marked NUTRITION. Top left of the screen choose the button marked RECIPES. Click on the button at the bottom of the screen marked ADD OWN RECIPE and fill in as required.

How can I see meal plans that meet my requirements?

Go to the button  marked NUTRITION. Top left of the screen choose the button marked MEAL PLANS. Select your Weight Management strategy from the pull-down box top left of the screen, and any preference you have from the box top right. The first of a number of appropriate meal plans will appear. Use the scroll bars across the bottom to move to the next / previous appropriate meal plan.

How can I add my own meal plans?

Go to the button marked NUTRITION. Top left of the screen choose the button marked MEAL PLANS. Click on the ADD MEAL PLAN button and fill in details and nutritional information as required.

How can I look up exercise plans?

Go to the button marked EXERCISE. Exercise program will show on schedule on the right.

How do I select exercises to be part of my targets?

Go to the button marked EXERCISE. Scroll down the alphabetical list until you find an exercise you wish to add to your targets and click on this exercise.  Select the days of the week to perform, then enter the time (reps/sets) to the schedule on the right. Repeat for other exercises. Delete or move order of exercises by clicking the grey box next to the exercise in the schedule on the right, then use the arrows or X button.

How do I print exercise charts?

Go to the button  marked REPORTS - choose Personal Targets Report.

How do I add my own exercises?

Go to the button marked EXERCISE. Click on the button at the top left of the screen marked ADD EXERCISE. Fill in as required.

How do I look up information on the info pages?

Go to the button marked INFO & TOOLS. Select article from the pull-down list for the relevant category.

How do I use the fitness tools?

Go to the main button across the top of the screen marked INFO & TOOLS. Select tool required by clicking on relevant button.
