Private Funds Manager Upgrade

Upgrading from the web site

To download the upgrade please go to the link given by Istek and follow the onscreen instructions.  We strongly recommend that you also download the New Features documentation from this page.

You can load this upgrade at any time, but please complete any banking first and go to Period End – Archives – Backup  to take a backup before starting.

To download the upgrade please go into PFM and up to File – Where Am I?  to check which folder  the program runs from. Then make sure everyone is off PFM and click on the following link. Click to download, and choose the option to SAVE – then specify the folder that you noted above. If you have successfully loaded the upgrade, it will show the new version numberacross the blue bar at the top of the PFM screen when you run the program. If it does not, you have probably not selected the correct folder to download to, so please check and download again.

Upgrading from the disk

Before upgrading, please ensure that all items are BANKED

To upgrade, first run Private Funds Manager and go to the FILE menu – Where Am I?  Make a note of the folder, and this is the one you must CHANGE the upgrade to, otherwise it will not upgrade the correct area of your system. If your technical manager is doing the upgrade for you, please make them aware of the paragraph above.

When you know which folder to upgrade, close PFM on all machines and insert the CD. Select the UPGRADE button and when asked for the folder, make sure you change it to one noted above.

If you have a problem with the upgrade, such as an error message please use the following procedure :

  1. Put the CD into the drive and use Windows Explorer, My Computer or something similar to open the CD and look into the folder on the CD called UPGRADE.

  1. Double-click on the file in UPGRADE called PFM

  1. Copy ALL the files to the existing PFM folder:

You will know if you have upgraded successfully, as it will say the latest version number across the top of the screen. If it does not, you have not selected the corrected folder as detailed in the first point.
