Private Funds Manager Network Installation

Private Funds Manager Plus can be installed either on the local hard disk of an individual PC or onto a Network to allow sharing, access from multiple location and the security of network backups.

Before beginning the installation procedure, check the following requirements:

·           The product requires a 32-bit operating system eg Windows 95, 98, XP, NT, Vista.

·           Network installations should be installed to a MAPPED network drive, that all users have appropriate Access Rights to access.

·           Your drive must have a minimum of 20Mb free before starting this installation.

·           Your PCs needs 32Mb of RAM to run this package.

To install the Private Funds Manager to the Server:

1.       Create an appropriate directory on your network, Map a drive to the directory and set up full supervisory access to this folder for your users.

2.        Put CD in the drive and it will AUTORUN. If it does not go to START - RUN - Browse to the CD drive and select AUTORUN.  Select the option MAIN INSTALLATION

3.       Click on the CHANGE DIRECTORY button and enter the Network path to install the package to.  Now click on the button with the Computer on to install.

Occasionally one or more of the .DLL  files the Private Funds Manager requires, may already be on your PC. If this is the case the installation will display a Sharing Violation. Click on the Ignore button to continue.

Also occasionally on completion of the installation a message may be displayed saying “An Unexpected Error has occurred”. Click on the Retry button and it should now say Installation Complete.

To install the Private Funds Manager to EVERY PC that will use it:

Each PC to run the Private Funds Manager software requires a client installation whereby a number of files are copied to it.

1.       Put CD in the drive and it will AUTORUN. If it does not go to START - RUN - Browse to the CD drive and select AUTORUN. Select the option ADDITIONAL INSTALLS.

2.      Accept the default folder, and click on the button with the Computer on to install.

3.   Do not use the item on the Programs menu that has been automatically created, Instead amend the menu properties, and create a new shortcut linking to the file called PFM.EXE in the NETWORK folder.

Existing Data

If you have existing data for example on a local hard disk, you will need to copy this to the new network location. The file(s) that require copying are PFM5.MDB and any others with an extension of .MDB (for archives etc)
