Printing Problems

 

Printing Problems in PFM

A few schools have reported printing issues in PFM and have passed on error information - the error reported is a Microsoft Printer error number 484. 

 

There are two possible solutions:

 

1. Go into PFM - up to File - Where am I? - make a note of the folder.  Close PFM and make sure no one else is using it.  Go to the folder noted above, find the file called PFM5.mdb and double click. Once open, go to either the TOOLS menu and select Database Tools - Compact and Repair OR the Windows menu (top left) and choose Manage Database - Compact and Repair.  Once complete, close down and go back and run PFM as usual. Hopefully the reports will now print properly.

 

IF NOT -

 

The following fix provided by  Microsoft should work-

 

·  You don't have a printer installed DIRECTLY from the Windows Control Panel.

Open the Control Panel, double-click the Printers icon, and choose Add Printer to install a printer.


Please reinstall the printer but actually do it sat at the client machine rather than remotely. You will probably need to Uninstall the printer first, then reinstall

You may also need to re-establish the link with the new printer setup, by going into PFM - Screen Enquiries - Printer Setup - Select the correct printer, and click on PRINT.
